UBM Live is first to achieve BS8901 self certification
UBM Live is the first of the major exhibition organisers to achieve BS8901 self certification, the new British Standard for sustainable event management. UBM Live have been working religiously to employ more sustainable ways of working, incorporating environmental and social issues through sales, marketing and operations across all their exhibitions, events and awards ceremonies.
Adopting best practice and developing innovative solutions to environmental issues has become a key factor in UBM’s day to day practice, with e-communication being widely used to minimise print wastage, effective measures being taken to reduce wastage at exhibitions, awards and events, the use of lower carbon-emitting forms of transport for sales teams and using local food suppliers at awards ceremonies - just a few examples of how UBM has achieved this official recognition of their effort to integrate sustainability across the business.
“We are delighted to have achieved BS8901 certification, demonstrating our commitment to incorporating environmental best practice across all our business activities,” commented Mirabelle Chatterjee, Group Operations Director, who has played a fundamental part in this green initiative.
“We have done our very best to ensure all teams contribute to the sustainability of UBM Live. Substantial progress can be seen across all portfolios within the business and we will strive to continue our greener culture!”
BS 8901 is the new British Standard which has been developed specifically for the events industry with a purpose of helping the industry to operate in a more sustainable manner. The standard defines the requirements for a sustainable event management system to ensure an enduring and balanced approach to economic activity, environmental responsibility and social progress.
