United Business Media plc appoints Jimé Essink as Chief Executive Officer of CMP Asia
United Business Media Plc today announces that it has appointed Jimé Essink as Chief Executive Officer of CMP Asia. Mr Essink will take up his role in November, succeeding current CEO Peter Sutton who will take up his non-executive, consultative role as President of CMP Asia.
Mr Essink, 51, has more than 15 years' experience of leading and growing B2B media businesses in emerging and developed markets throughout Asia and Europe. Mr Essink joins UBM from VNU Exhibitions where he has worked since 1999. Based in Shanghai as CEO of VNU Exhibitions Asia, Mr Essink was responsible for VNU's portfolio of more than 20 Asian exhibitions which serve a wide range of B2B and consumer markets. The events are held at venues in Shanghai , Guangzhou , Beijing and Hong Kong. In 2006 Mr Essink was appointed CEO of VNU Exhibitions Europe and President of VNU Exhibitions Asia, spending a week a month in China. Before joining VNU, Mr Essink also spent six years as managing director of Miller Freeman Netherlands.
